You may have seen bottles of prostate vitamins stacked on the shelves of health stores and drug stores and wonder if these are good for you or not. You may have seen some brands claiming that each tablet or pill they give you contain a single vitamin or mineral in high dosages, or a combination of vitamins and minerals that promise 'all-in-one' prostate vitamins in a single bottle.

All of these products claimed to help men live a prostate cancer free life, and some even go to the extend to claim that it prevent advancement or progression of prostate cancer. The question now is, do you really need to pop in those pills?

There are many medical studies which have shown that Beta Carotene, Vitamin E and Selenium can indeed help fight cancer. However, there is no actual proof that shows their ability to prevent prostate cancer, per se. In fact, on the contrary, there is a study, although it is still inconclusive, which shows that the intake of these prostate vitamins in large doses in fact advances the stage of a prostate cancer patient instead of helping with the condition.

So what does this tells us? It tells us that actually, we do not need to pop in those pills. The important thing to do is to eat the right food and getting the right exercise. These are the keys in getting the right amount of natural prostate vitamins, keeping them in our system when needed, and excreting them naturally from our body when there are excesses.

On the other hand, our body organs need the right amount of vitamins and minerals to function properly. By having low levels of any of these vitamins in our bloodstream, it may immediately cause irregularities in the natural rhythm of our internal systems, which may leads to paralysis and even death. This is the same with having too much of it in our system. So, if you have very low levels of potassium, you will suffer from lower body paralysis and numbness in extremities; with high level of potassium, you'll suffer in the same way.

So to keep yourself healthy, keep those pills at bay. Do discuss them first with your doctor to see if you require the planning to add up prostate vitamins in pill form with your daily diet.  Your doctor is the best person to tell you when to take, how much of it, and when to stop popping them up.
