There is no standard treatment in curing prostate cancer patients. Every patient has his individual and special needs. A newly diagnosed prostate cancer patient need not undergo the aggressive prostate medicine or treatment option of someone with metastasized cancer cells or he might suffer more or die faster in the process. Choosing what is the best clinical treatment option for him is a personal matter and should be discussed with his physician.

Treatment and management of the disease is a Herculean task for a prostate cancer stricken patient. He should choose meticulously who should be part of his team of doctors. He needs specialists in prostate medicine, such as an Urologist, a Radiation Oncologist, a Medical Oncologist and a skilled Surgeon (in case of surgery) who would watch the progression of his cancer cells and determine whether or not a new therapy should be implemented or be replaced.

If you were diagnosed with prostate cancer, don't get too confused with differing treatment and cancer management opinions of prostate medicine specialists.  Prostate medicine, by itself, is a specialized branch of medicine with various schools of thoughts and approach; conflicting and differing opinions, therefore, are quite normal in this specialized branch of medicine. What you need to do, as a patient, is to simply listen to opinions and suggestions of specialists and doctors that you will meet. You can later on pick those who will employ treatment methods that you agree of.

Prostate cancer treatment and therapy include surgery or the removal of the prostate; radiation or undergoing exposure to radioactive beam to kill prostate cancer cells and the surrounding healthy or metastasized cells; a chemotherapy regimen to kill cancer cells and stop them from dividing; and other prostate medicine and treatment procedure that may be used in conjunction with the aforementioned therapy, such as hormone and drug therapy. One or a combination of these treatment options may work well for you.
