It's hard to think that there was a time in our ancient history when the common cold was feared as a brain disease and the stricken person was viewed as someone who was destined to die. Granted that no cure for the common cold has yet to be discovered since then, a lot of medicines have been discovered and invented to combat other diseases. But what about prostate problems which haunt a great majority of males over the age of 50? Is there a prostate medication that could cure these complications?

The answer is: it depends on what prostate problem the patient is experiencing.

There are three kinds of prostate problems. These are Prostatitis, or the infection of the prostate gland; benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), or the abnormal enlargement of the prostate; and prostate cancer, which is the most severe prostate complication imaginable.

Prostatitis, much like any other infection, can be treated with antibiotics. There are specially prescribed types and dosages for this, though such a prostate medicine may not be for everyone. Some people's systems aren't really receptive to antibiotics, in which case, alternative medicine should be resorted to. We will discuss this a little later on.

BPH can be treated with special medicine for the purpose. This medication will shrink the prostate so that it will not hamper the space reserved for the bladder opening. This would result in a healthier, and easier, urination process and would save the patient from developing prostate cancer.

Prostate cancer, in its early stages, can be treated through surgery. The healing process, however, can be supplemented with a variety of medicine as well. But prostate cancer, in its more advanced and malignant stages, is basically incurable. This is why medical professionals claim that the best way to treat prostate cancer is through early detection.

Nonetheless, whether it be prostate cancer or any of the lesser prostate problems, alternative prostate medicine can be considered to cure such illnesses. Nutritional supplements that strengthen the prostate have been known to work wonders for Prostatitis and BPH. These are made from a variety of herbs which are rich with ingredients healthy for the said gland.

A dosage of the daily recommended allowance of vitamins and minerals would also be effective in keeping a healthy and happy prostate.

Additionally, collagen injection has been verified by studies as an efficient prostate medicine alternative. Collagen, an insoluble fibrous protein, is said to fortify the urinary muscles, thus providing a cure for incontinence.

If the above options are resorted to, there may be no need to worry about the incurability of prostate cancer. As they say, an ounce of prevention - in the form of prostate medicine, of course - is worth more than a pound of cure.
